Essay Topics - Make History
Essay Topics - Make HistoryThe 1920s were a time of great changes in American culture and it's almost like history was rewritten in that decade. I have compiled a list of 1920s essay topics that every teacher should teach to his or her students during the year. The first thing on my list is the idea of democracy in America. It was a revolutionary concept back then, the thought that everyone had the right to vote for their local elected representatives. Students need to learn that you cannot elect a person to a political office, it has to be done by a public vote. The civil rights movement was an important part of this era as well. They wanted to put the people in charge of something so they went ahead and did it.One of the big questions at the time was slavery and what it did to our country and the South, and white supremacy. In the South, where slavery is a tradition, many people did not want the freedom of the United States and these were the people who created the conditions that l ed to the Civil War.The second period is the Jazz Age, with its unique innovations and sounds, it is one of the most popular periods of American history. We have Jazz music, movie stars, new and different styles of dress, dances, dancing, flappers, jazz songs, the Rose Bowl Parade, the Tennessee Williams play, the Star Spangled Banner, and many other things. We call it The Golden Age of America, and yes, we all saw some great movies.Music was in it's creative state at the time, with blues, jazz, swing, rock and roll, and many other genres. Movies were in the stage, and the feel of the movies would continue in the decades to come. People made millions of dollars on the movies, and the dance, song, and dance, comedy, and many other things are still being created today. It was a time of change, with new inventions, styles, and you might want to know how to write about that. The second half of the 1920s was called the depression, the 'Bad Years' and the social breakdown, it is known to o ur generation, but it was just a sad era, the people lost everything, the business industry, the government, and many people. I have not looked at the years prior to the 1930s, because I do not know that well. I'm sure you have plenty of ideas. If you want to know the history of this time period, and what was going on during those years, you can find out at any library and you will find it there. The Internet is a good place to start looking.
